From Argentina and for the whole world comes Popego, a very interesting project.

Popego is a widget that we can include on our site, blog or forum and that will show our activity in social networks and other applications. A novel way of incorporating the concept of myselfonline in a widget.

For the moment, Popego integrates Flickr, YouTube, del.icio.us, Twitter and LastFM. As you can see, this option is a good way of integrating in a single site all these widgets that we use in our blogs and that show our activity in the social networks.

Popego is in the Alpha stage and one can only enter by requesting an invitation. I am waiting for mine :)

Well, it’s difficult to differentiate between community and social network, maybe it’s more a question of terminology than real elements. But the point I want to make is that Bitacoras.com has taken one step further to convert itself into a social network for bloggers.

Now in Bitacoras.com, bloggers who add their blogs in the directory, can create their personal profile, add information about their blogs, connect with other users, send notifications of update of their blogs, …

Certainly, now Bitacoras.com is more of a social network like Facebook than a directory of blogs or a portal about the blogosphere, which is what it was when it was conceived.

The question is, is there any sense to creating a social network for bloggers? It would be nice to know what has been the experience of Alianzo in this respect. What I see is that Bitacoras.com is going to turn into a reference for people who are not a part of the blogosphere, and is going to be the point of entry for people to get to know the world of blogs. If they can pull this off, bloggers will be able to see the great utility of Bitacoras.com and will participate in an active way in the social network because it will have a direct benefit in their work with their blogs.

I’m especially excited to give this news, because Nvivo is a project that I practically saw being born and because Carlos Sanchez, its founder is a fantastic person with whom I’ve had very good communication all this time.

This is how the news of investment is released in Nvivo: We’re happy to announce that nvivo.es has closed a first round of financing with investments from Luis Martín Cabiedes, Europa Press, the Bergareche family through its business promotion company Berquet Desarrollo Empresarial (Berquet Business Development) and other private investors.

Since quite some time Carlos Sanchez was talking about the need for financing to further grow Nvivo and above all to take the model to other countries. I’m sure that with this investment, Carlos will turn his project into a point of reference for live music.

The staff of Fivelab is announcing the coming-out of Catodicos, the social network for aficionados of televesion series of which we talked when it was released in private beta.

Now Catodicos is open and everyone can participate in this community where basically you can follow your preferred television series and discover new ones.

As I have said previously, I like Catodicos a lot but I think there are some things which can be improved. Here are my recommendations for its creators:

Make the user’s page as the point of entry to the site. This way the user will see the calendar and timetable of his favourite series as soon as he enters the site, and also view other users involved in the community, … This will make the user identify more with the application.

Recommend a series to a friend from the page of the series itself. When you are discovering new series through the list of series, enable the possibility of sending recommendation messages to other members of the community from the page of the series. (This already exists, the people behind Catodicos are involved in everything)

List of series by types. I generally like series that have an argumental thread like 24, lost, heroes, … I don’t quite like series in which each episode is a different story, that’s why I think it would be useful to know the type for each series.
