I’ve received the news that Grupo Intercom has become a shareholder of the social network for families Genoom.
As per my criteria, Genoom is one of the best projects of the Hispanic Web 2.0. For those who don’t know, it’s an application that allows users to create genealogy trees, and moreover includes functionalities for creating a family social network such as photo albums, private messages, …
Without doubt the news is interesting in itself, but I want to highlight another aspect that has caught my attention. From what I know, this is one of the first cases in which Grupo Intercom invests in a project already operating for some time. What we have normally seen is that GI acts as an incubator for businesses, an entrepreneur presents his idea and the project is developed within the company. But in this case, the intervention of GI is closer to a venture capital fund than a business incubator.
With this I think a range of possibilities open up with respect to investments from a group that is perhaps the most important of all in the Hispanic internet.
Vote for Genoom in Loogic Rank.
